I Almost Did It Perfectly, In My Mind:
I saw it clear as day, the way it could be,
Every word I’d say, falling perfectly.
But standing here now, I stumble, I find,
I almost did it perfectly, in my mind.
In my mind, the words were smooth as glass,
Every fear fading, no shadows to cast.
But here in the real world, I trip every time,
I almost did it perfectly, in my mind.
I practiced every line, rehearsed every move,
Thought I had it down, nothing left to prove.
But now I’m shaking, words fall behind,
I almost did it perfectly, in my mind.
In my mind, I was bold, unafraid,
Every step steady, every note played.
But out in the open, I'm fumbling blind,
I almost did it perfectly, in my mind.
If only this world were as kind as my dreams,
Where nothing slips and nothing redeems.
But I’m learning to love the flaws I find,
That perfect’s just a trick of the mind.
In my mind, the story never went wrong,
No hesitations, I was brave and strong.
But here in the moment, the words don’t align,
I almost did it perfectly, in my mind.
So here’s to the tries and here’s to the slips,
The words that got tangled, the stumbles and trips.
For all of the beauty the real world can’t hide,
I almost did it perfect… and that’s all right.
